End of the Year

Dear families,

The Grade 1 students and teachers are busy organizing students work to be taken home at the end of the year. The best way to send home the work done on the computers is if each student could bring a USB. Please label each USB with your child’s name. We will transfer documents and send home the USB by the last week of school.

Thank you,

The Grade 1 Teachers

Math

As the end of the school year approaches, we are reviewing and practicing what we have learned in Math. One goal is to know our number facts (bonds) to 10. These are the two numbers that add together to make 10.

Here are some ways to practice at home:

A song:

For those students who have mastered bonds to 10, try bonds to 100!

Market Market

On Thursday the Rainbow Fish went to “Market Market” to shop for snacks. A great time was had by all! There was much excitement as the children walked the aisles of the store to decide which snacks to buy. Each child had decisions to make about what to buy and had to figure out the cost. This was a great learning experience. There was a great variety of purchases including, candy, fruit, vegetables, juice, or yogurt. This is a launch into our inquiry as to how the foods we choose affect our bodies and how to make choices for our wellness.

Thanks to all the parents who supported this field trip!
